AGAMA DAN RASA PERCAYA YANG TERBUKA DALAM MASYARAKAT (Sebuah Tinjauan Empiris-Teologis)
Abstract
Kita mengetahui bahwa ada cukup banyak konflik bernuansa agama dan etnis yang terjadi di Indonesia sejak Indonesia mengumumkan kemerdekaannya pada 17 Agustus 1945. Di awal abad ke-21 saja kita dapat menemui beberapa konflik yang terjadi di antara komunitas Muslim karena perbedaan-perbedaan ajaran dan tradisi seperti, mayoritas Suni dengan minoritas Siah dan Ahmadiyah. Selain itu, ketegangan di antara kelompok mayoritas Islam dan minoritas Kristen atau sebaliknya di beberapa daerah, yang diekspresikan melalui aksi-aksi terorisme di beberapa rumah ibadah, pelarangan berdirinya tempat ibadah dsb. Dalam situasi seperti ini, kita sudah cukup sering berbicara tentang bagaimana kepelbagaian seharusnya dimengerti. Kita dapat mengingat berbagai upaya, dari mencari persamaan sampai dengan mencoba untuk menerima kenyataan kepelbagaian dalam teologi agama-agama, atau mencoba merintis teologi tentang kebangasaan, teologi keagamaan yang bersifat terbuka sampai dengan teologi penderitaan sebagai jembatan perbedaan. Atau juga masuk dalam metode tafsir Kitab Suci yang menghindari sikap sempit dalam membaca teks, memberi tempat pada kemanusiaan, kehidupan dan konteks bahkan cerita-cerita yang hidup di tengah masyarakat. Tetapi di samping itu semua, penulis melihat ada satu pertanyaan lain yang muncul dan tidak kalah penting, yang datang dari konsep para sosiolog tentang kehidupan bersama dalam masyarakat, yaitu: apakah agama-agama di Indonesia telah gagal dalam membangun rasa percaya (trust) di tengah masyarakat dengan latar belakang agama dan etnis yang berbeda? Atau dengan kata lain, sampai sejauh mana agama-agama di Indonesia membangun dan memiliki rasa percaya di tengah-tengah kepelbagaian sosial sehingga mereka mampu mempertahankan diri dalam kebersamaan sebagai sebuah masyarakat modern?
